In the early 1990's, Visual Basic revolutionised the way in which software was written. It opened up a whole new world of visual development tools, productivity and creativity.
Today, we are at a similar junction with Visual Studio.net and XML Web Services. Embracing the internet and open standards, Microsoft has re-invented itself to offer a state-of-the-art development environment fit for the demanding needs of the modern development team.
The Internet is evolving. It is incorporating new mobile devices such as wireless PDA, WAP & iMode smart phones. New Location Based Services will unlock the potential of these devices in ways never seen before.
Since 1997, Effective Web has focused on creating Internet Solutions using the Windows Server System. This included utilising Microsoft NT and 2000 operating systems, the Internet Information Server (IIS 3, 4, 5), SQL Server (6.5, 7, 2000), Exchange Server (5, 5.5), SMTP Service and ,of course, DNS. We created Internet Applications using Active Server Pages (ASP), Microsoft's Component Object Model (COM), Stored Procedures, T-SQL & (D)HTML.
At the moment, we still specialise in developing Internet Solutions, but we mainly concentrate on Windows 2003 Server used in conjunction with SQL 2005, IIS 6, ASP.Net, ASP, XML and Web Services. We also work within the mobile space, using devices that run Windows Mobile, and have experience working with the .Net compact framework, including projects incorporating Location Based Services (LBS) that use the Global Positioning Service (GPS) and mapping services, such as Google maps.
